The exhibition has been organized thanks to a collaboration between the Huércal-Overa Culture department and the Lions Club. The works will be on show until 15th February
The ‘Picasso & Dalí’, geniuses of art’ exhibition is being hosted by the Rafael Alberti Municipal Theatre until 15th February.
The exhibition has been jointly organized by the Huércal-Overa Culture department and the Lions Club, and features 25 different kinds of works.
More than 100 people attended the exhibition inauguration on 28th January, including Huércal-Overa Mayor Domingo Fernández and Culture councillor Antonio Lázaro, who underlined what a great opportunity it was for the municipality to have such an important exhibition of works by such prestigious artists. Also attending were members of the Huércal-Overa Lions Club and Mijas Lions Club president and exhibition curator Francisco Javier Fructuoso, who commented, “We hope to continue collaborating with the Town Hall in order to being other exhibitions of this kind to Huércal-Overa.”
Also present was the president of the company responsible for administering the works, Spanish Art Broker S.L.
The exhibition features 15 works by Pablo Picasso and 10 by Salvador Dalí, all of which make up part of the Remedios Medina Collection, which has already been shown in Lorca and will travel next to San Antonion in Texas for a new exhibition in March.
Among the works are show are two curious pieces by Dalí. One is a small bronze sculpture of 17cms dated 1970 and titled ‘Carmen the gypsy’. There is also a 1960 lithograph entitled “The stereotypical immortality and the stereochemistry of the Monarchy’, which is without doubt one of the pieces attracting most comments. Among the works by Picasso there is an enamelled pottery piece, as well as a number of his characteristic paintings of women.
‘Picasso & Dalí, geniuses of art’, represents a unique opportunity for art lovers and the general public to see original works by these two grand masters of art.
The exhibition can be visited Monday to Friday, morning and afternoon.
